Πως να παρακάμψεις το μπλόκο στο The Pirate Bay και τις άλλες ιστοσελίδες με torrents και υπότιτλους

DNS change

Το μπλοκάρισμα μπορεί να γίνει από μέρους τους με αρκετούς τρόπους, όπως με μπλοκάρισμα του DNS ή της διεύθυνσης IP ή του URL, αλλά συνήθως επιλέγουν το πρώτο (DNS blocking). Το καλό είναι ότι μπορείς να παρακάμψεις αυτό το μπλοκάρισμα σχετικά εύκολα.

Με μια επίσκεψη στην ιστοσελίδα https://1.1.1.1/ θα βρείτε αναλυτικές οδηγίες για την παράκαμψη του DNS blocking για κάθε πλατφόρμα (Android, iOS, Mac, Windows, Linux). Η υπηρεσία υποστηρίζεται από την Cloudflare και την APNIC.

Σε δοκιμή που πραγματοποιήσαμε πριν από λίγο από Mac, είχαμε άμεσα πρόσβαση στο 1337x.eu, οπότε δουλεύει!

VPN

Ένας άλλος εύκολος τρόπος είναι να επιλέξετε κάποια υπηρεσία VPN (Virtual Private Network) είτε δωρεάν, είτε επί πληρωμή, είτε απευθείας μέσω του Opera browser, ο οποίος ενεργοποιεί με ένα κλικ την ενσωματωμένη (και δωρεάν) υπηρεσία VPN. Εν ολίγοις, με την επιλογή VPN "μασκαρεύεις" τη διεύθυνση IP του υπολογιστή ή της φορητής συσκευής σου έτσι ώστε να φαίνεται ότι η online δραστηριότητα σου γίνεται από κάποια άλλη χώρα. Θεωρητικά, οι υπηρεσίες VPN σε συνδέουν μέσω χωρών όπου επιτρέπεται η πρόσβαση σε μπλοκαρισμένες ιστοσελίδες με ασφάλεια και ιδιωτικότητα.

Η δοκιμή που κάναμε μέσω του Opera browser λειτούργησε επίσης κανονικά για το https://www.subtitles.gr

Tor

Το μπλοκάρισμα των παρόχων τηλεπικοινωνιών αφορά καθαρά την πρόσβαση στις ιστοσελίδες και όχι στο περιεχόμενο τους. Επομένως, εάν θέλεις να πάρεις στα χέρια σου τα αρχεία .torrent ή .srt θα χρειαστεί απλά να βρεις πρόσβαση σε αυτά. Μία λίγο πιο "περίεργη", για τον πολύ κόσμο, λύση είναι μέσω του δικτύου Tor. Πρόκειται για ένα παγκόσμιο δίκτυο από servers που χρησιμοποιείται γενικότερα από κόσμο που επιθυμεί να σερφάρει στο Διαδίκτυο ανώνυμα. Όταν χρησιμοποιείς το Tor, η μεταφορά δεδομένων γίνεται μέσω αυτών των servers και κατά κανόνα είναι αρκετά δύσκολο να εντοπιστεί η διεύθυνση IP και να την μπλοκάρουν.

Ο περισσότερος κόσμος το έχει συνδυάσει με το deep και dark web, τους hackers κλπ. με αποτέλεσμα να το φοβάται ή να βρίσκει πολύπλοκη τη χρήση του Tor browser, αλλά υπάρχει διαθέσιμη λύση. Κατεβάζοντας το λογισμικό Tails (Windows, Mac, Linux) μπορείς να συνδεθείς στο Tor χωρίς να παιδεύεσαι με πολύπλοκες ρυθμίσεις του browser.

Προσωπικά πιστεύω ότι η πιο εύκολη λύση είναι να κατεβάσετε τον Opera browser και να ενεργοποιήσετε με ένα κλικ την πλοήγηση μέσω VPN. Απλά, γρήγορα και δωρεάν.

Μηνύματα Facebook στο Android χωρίς το Messenger

Η εφαρμογή του Facebook για το Android ήταν πάντοτε βαριά και κατανάλωνε άφθονη μπαταρία. Όμως η κίνηση της εταιρείας να βγάλει τα μηνύματα Facebook σε ξεχωριστή εφαρμογή Messenger δυσαρέστησε πολλούς χρήστες. Τώρα ένα αθώο hack μας επιτρέπει να ξαναβάλουμε τα μηνύματα facebook στο Android App, με τη χρήση ενός enabler.

Διεκδικώντας ξανά τα μηνύματα Facebook

Για να έχουμε ξανά τα μηνύματα Facebook στην Android εφαρμογή, χωρίς το αντιπαθητικό messenger, θα χρησιμοποιήσουμε την εφαρμογή Facebook Chat Re-Enabler.

Για να λειτουργήσει αυτό το σύστημα δεν χρειάζεται να έχουμε κάνει root στη συσκευή μας. Θα πρέπει όμως να έχουμε την έκδοση 27.0.0.25.15 της εφαρμογής Facebook ή κάποια παλαιότερη.

Στην έκδοση 28.0.0.20.16 και πάνω, το σύστημα αυτό δεν λειτουργεί προς το παρόν. Θα πρέπει λοιπόν να κάνουμε downgrade στην έκδοση 27.0.0.25.15.

Ενεργοποιούμε τις άγνωστες πηγές

Στον οδηγό αυτό θα εγκαταστήσουμε εφαρμογές εκτός του Google Play Store. Ως εκ τούτου, αν δεν έχουμε ενεργοποιήσει τις "Άγνωστες πηγές", θα πρέπει να το κάνουμε τώρα".

Πηγαίνουμε στις Ρυθμίσεις -> Ασφάλεια...

...και στην ενότητα "Διαχείριση συσκευής" τσεκάρουμε τις "Άγνωστες πηγές".

Έλεγχος έκδοσης Facebook app

Για να μάθουμε ποια εκδοσή έχουμε, στην εφαρμογή Facebook κάνουμε κλικ τις ρυθμίσεις της εφαρμογής με το κουμπί με τις 3 γραμμές του κινητού που εμφανίζει τις ρυθμίσεις και να κάνουμε κλικ στο "Σχετικά".

Αν είμαστε στην εκδοσή 27.0.0.25.15 ή κάποια χαμηλότερη όλα καλά.

Αν έχουμε έκδοση 28.0.0.20.16 ή νεότερη τότε θα χρειαστεί να κατεβάσουμε μια παλιά του έκδοση της εφαρμογής Facebook.

Downgrade στην έκδοση 27.0.0.0.15

Αν διαβάζετε αυτό το άρθρο από τον υπολογιστή, κάντε κλικ εδώ για να κατεβάσετε την έκδοση 27.0.0.0.15

Το Google Drive θα βγάλει μια ειδοποίηση πως δεν μπορεί να σαρώσει το άρθρο για ιούς.

Αυτό όμως δεν είναι πρόβλημα, γιατί το βγάζει καθαρό το Virustotal.

Αν διαβάζετε αυτό το άρθρο από το κινητό, μπορείτε να κατεβάσετε απευθείας το αρχείο. Αν σας βγάλει επιλογή, ανοίξτε το με το Google Drive.

Καθώς έχει μέγεθος 29MB καλό είναι να έχετε το κινητό συνδεδεμένο στο WiFi.

Αφού κατεβάσουμε, τρέχουμε το αρχείο με τον Package Installer.

Αν είχαμε ήδη μια νεότερη έκδοση του Facebook, θα μας ζητήσει να την αντικαταστήσουμε.

Τα δικαιώματα που ζητάει η εφαρμογή είναι τα κανονικά δικαιώματα που θέλουν οι Facebook apps. Πρόκειται για την επίσημη εφαρμογή, απλά σε παλαιότερη έκδοση.

Μετά από λίγο, η εγκατάσταση ολοκληρώνεται.

Την επόμενη φορά που θα ανοίξουμε την εφαρμογή, θα βγάλει το παρακάτω μήνυμα "Το Facebook ρυθμίζεται" για ένα χρονικό διάστημα. Είναι λογικό, μην σας ανησυχεί.

Τώρα, με την έκδοση 27.0.0.0.25, είμαστε έτοιμοι να επαναφέρουμε τα μηνύματα Facebook.

Εγκατάσταση Facebook chat re-enabler

Κάνουμε κλικ εδώ για να κατεβάσουμε την εφαρμογή Facebook chat re-enabler.

Μπορούμε είτε να την κατεβάσουμε στον υπολογιστή και να την περάσουμε στο κινητό, είτε απευθείας στο κινητό, με τη μέθοδο που είδαμε παραπάνω για την παλιά έκδοση του Facebook.

Τρέχουμε το αρχείο και το εγκαθιστούμε.

Αυτό ήταν όλο. Πλέον έχουμε ξανά τα μηνύματα Facebook στην Android εφαρμογή χωρίς την ενοχλητική ειδοποίηση για να κάνουμε εγκατάσταση το Messenger.

AppDowner: Το app που κάνει downgrade τις εφαρμογές μας σε παλαιότερη έκδοση

Η αναβάθμιση των εφαρμογών είναι συνήθως μια ευχάριστη διαδικασία, υπάρχουν όμως και περιπτώσεις όπου αυτό δεν ισχύει. Από τη μία το γραφικό περιβάλλον μπορεί να αλλάξει σε κάτι που δε μας αρέσει και από την άλλη η εφαρμογή να μην τρέχει πλέον καλά λόγω των αλλαγών που έχει υποστεί. Το AppDowner είναι ένα απλό app το οποίο μπορεί να μας βοηθήσει να επιστρέψουμε στην παλιά έκδοση χωρίς κόπο.

Ο λόγος που χρειαζόμαστε το AppDowner είναι διότι δεν μπορούμε να αντικαταστήσουμε μία νεότερη έκδοση με μία παλαιότερη, χρησιμοποιώντας τον ενσωματωμένο installer του Android. Μπορούμε φυσικά να απεγκαταστήσουμε τη μεταγενέστερη έκδοση πρώτα, αλλά έτσι θα χάσουμε τα δεδομένα μας τα οποία μπορεί να είναι πολύτιμα (π.χ. το High Score σε ένα παιχνίδι). Έτσι λοιπόν με το AppDowner μπορούμε να επιλέξουμε το παλιό apk αρχείο, το οποίο θα πρέπει να έχουμε αποθηκευμένο στη μνήμη μας και να πατήσουμε απλά "Install" για να γίνουν όλα τα υπόλοιπα αυτόματα.

Δεν είναι και το ότι καλύτερο εδώ που τα λέμε, ιδιαίτερα επειδή θα πρέπει να κρατάμε backup των εφαρμογών μας, αλλά κάνει καλά τη δουλειά του. Χρειάζεται επίσης να έχουμε κάνει root στη συσκευή μας και λειτουργεί σε συσκευές με Android 4.0+. Θα το βρείτε μόνο στο νήμα του στο XDA προς το παρόν.

2. Using a SIM Card Reader to Recover Text Messages

Car Thieves Can Unlock 100 Million Volkswagens With A Simple Wireless Hack

Some 100 Million cars made by Volkswagen are vulnerable to a key cloning attack that could allow thieves to unlock the doors of most popular cars remotely through a wireless signal, according to new research.

Next time when you leave your car in a parking lot, make sure you don't leave your valuables in it, especially if it's a Volkswagen.

What's more worrisome?

The new attack applies to practically every car Volkswagen has sold since 1995.

There are two distinct vulnerabilities present in almost every car sold by Volkswagen group after 1995, including models from Audi, Skoda, Fiat, Citroen, Ford and Peugeot.

Computer scientists from the University of Birmingham and the German engineering firm Kasper & Oswald plan to present their research [PDF] later this week at the Usenix security conference in Austin, Texas.

Attack 1 — Using Arduino-based RF Transceiver (Cost $40)

The first attack can be carried out using a cheap radio device that can be made for just $40 with a small control board and a radio receiver, but is capable of eavesdropping and recording the rolling code values used by keyless entry systems.

The code values are included in the signal sent every time a driver presses the key fob’s buttons, which is then used together to emulate a key that is unique to every vehicle.

The researchers then managed to reverse engineer one component inside a Volkswagen's network and were able to extract a cryptographic key that is shared among millions of Volkswagen vehicles.

Now, combining the two supposedly secret keys, the researchers were able to clone the key fob and access to the car.

"With the knowledge of these keys, an adversary only has to eavesdrop a single signal from a target remote control," the researchers wrote in their paper. "Afterwards, he can decrypt this signal, obtain the current UID and counter value, and create a clone of the original remote control to lock or unlock any door of the target vehicle an arbitrary number of times."

Although the team did not reveal the components they used to extract the keys to prevent potential car hackers from exploiting the weakness.

However, they warned that if skilled hackers find and publicize those shared keys, each one could leave tens of Millions of cars vulnerable.

In past 20 years, just the four most common keys are used in all the 100 Million cars sold by Volkswagen. Only the most recent VW Golf 7 model and others that use unique keys are immune to the attack.

Attack 2 — Hijack with HiTag2 and A Radio Device in 60 Seconds

In the second attack, the team managed to attack a cryptographic scheme called HiTag2 -- decades old rolling code scheme but still used in Millions of vehicles, including Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Peugeot, Lancia, Opel, Renault, and Ford.

To carry out this attack, all a hacker needs is a radio setup similar to the one used in the above hack.

Using a radio device, the researchers were able to intercept and read a string of the coded signals (rolling code number that changes unpredictably with every button press) from the driver's key fob.

With the collection of rolling codes, the researchers discovered that flaws in the HiTag2 scheme would allow them to crack the cryptographic key in as little as one minute.

Since the above two attacks focus on unlocking cars rather than stealing them, the lead researcher Flavio Garcia told Wired these attacks might be combined with already exposed bugs in the HiTag2 and Megamos 'immobilizer' systems, allowing "Millions of Volkswagens and other vehicles ranging from Audis to Cadillacs to Porsches to be driven by thieves."

This is not the first time this team of researchers has targeted Volkswagen, it discovered a way to start Volkswagen cars' ignitions in 2013, but had to withhold their findings for two years because VW Group threatened to sue them.

The researchers have reported the flaws to VW Group and agreed not to disclose the cryptographic keys, part numbers of vulnerable components, and how they reverse-engineered the processes.

Car hacking is a hot topic today. Recently, security researcher Benjamin Kunz Mejri disclosed zero-day flaws resided in the official BMW web domain and ConnectedDrive portal that allowed attackers totamper remotely with BMW's In-Car Infotainment System.

Previous research demonstrated hackers capabilities to hack a car remotely and control its steering and brakes and to disable car's critical functions like airbags by exploiting security bugs affecting significant automobiles.

Keeping these risks in mind, in April this year, the Michigan state Senate proposed two bills that introduce life sentences in prison for people who hack into cars’ electronic systems. Also, the FBI issued a public announcement warning people about the risks of car hacking.

So, folks, your cars are not a safe place.
